Treating Pediatric Patients – Specialized by Karen J. Rodriguez-Velazquez, DPM
Rodriguez-Velazquez’s love for treating children started at a young age by being exposed to kids at her mother’s office, a pediatrician in a small town in Puerto Rico. She has since successfully treated hundreds of pediatric patients with conservative as well as surgical treatment modalities. Plantar warts, ingrown toenails, flat feet, sports injuries, heel pain, foot deformities, “growing pains” as well as gait abnormalities are some of the most common issues being treated in the office. Her kindness, patience and experience are unquestionable but it’s her genuine love to treat kids that separates her from the rest.
Dr. Karen J. Rodriguez-Velazquez is a board-certified surgeon by the American Board of Podiatric
Medicine who treats all conditions of the foot and ankle, including fractures, sports injuries, joint pain, diabetic foot care, heel pain, wound care and limb salvage, complex congenital or acquired deformities, and complications from diabetes and vascular disease.
Originally from Puerto Rico, she graduated Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico with a major in Biology. In 2008, Dr. Rodriguez-Velazquez relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where she earned her doctorate degree in Podiatric Medicine from Kent State University. She finished her three-year residency in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery with reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery credentials at University Hospitals in Cleveland, where she was chief resident during her senior year. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family.
